Comfort in Uncertain Times Photo Contest
Hi friends,
Just like you, we’re stuck at home, uncertain what changes might come next. We’re looking for ways to keep ourselves healthy - physically, mentally, and creatively. Staying creative can be hard enough as it is, and being quarantined hasn’t exactly been inspiring. For us at Blue Moon Camera, producing photographs is what helps direct our energies and our minds.
We’re offering you both an incentive to stay creative and the comfort of a project to work on by launching a photo contest based around the theme “Comfort in a time of uncertainty”. And the prize? A year’s worth of processing courtesy of your favorite camera store.
We want to motivate you to make the images that tell your story (fictitious or not) of how you are finding or creating comfort in this new and hopefully temporary reality. What object, ritual, habit, hobby, person, pet etc. do you find comforting? Who or what is keeping you warm and cozy? By doing this we can share with each other the ways we can remain feeling safe, secure, and comforted, all the while remaining productive and creative as film photographers.
How it works:
Send us your film for printing or scanning between now and April 30th in a package marked “Comfort” and all the images on those rolls will automatically be considered for the contest. This is your entry fee - simply send us the film so we can do our magic with it. You get negatives, prints or scans, and a chance at the grand prize.
All film formats are acceptable and our regular processing, scanning, and/or printing costs apply for this contest. Entries should be postmarked by April 30th.
Submitted film must involve either printing or scanning, sorry develop only orders will not qualify.
There is no limit to entries. You can have multiple images on the same roll of film and you can submit multiple rolls of film. This contest is designed to inspire you to go shoot more!
Once the deadline has passed and all submitted film has been printed or scanned, our staff will pore over the selection of images and choose a winner that we will announce on May 15th.
The grand prize winner receives development, printing and/or scanning on us at the rate of one roll per month for a year - this includes 35mm or 120 - C41, E6 or black & white film!
A special gallery of the images will be set up on our website for you to all enjoy and share in, as well as vote on for a “Reader’s Choice” award. That lucky photographer will win six months’ worth of free processing at the rate of one roll per month.
We’re going to get creative ourselves and continue to offer new contests during these stressful times. Stay safe and keep making photos!
