A brief letter from Tracy at our National Desk
Hello. Tracy here at the National Desk. In case you’re unfamiliar with National, we do lots of cool stuff behind the scenes: process domestic and international film orders, fulfill web sales, manage an eBay store, and, most importantly, communicate with the wider world about how great Blue Moon Camera & Machine is and what we’re capable of.
I often refer to what we do as magic, at least the only real kind I know of - making images appear from tiny, often long dormant, canisters and spools that don’t look much different from tiny black top hats.
Blue Moon is often “discovered”; other film labs refer photographers to our lab; a friend hears about us from a friend of a friend; a link online leads to another link, and another, then voilà - there we are.
Phone calls often start with, “I heard a rumor that you can...” Ultimately, they want to know if the rumors are true, and really!?
This is merely a long winded introduction to the National Desk. As you might have noticed, we’ve taken responsible steps to protect our community from COVID-19 by closing the front doors to minimize risk. But I want to remind you that as long as the Postal Service is still running, we plan to employ the might and dexterity of the National department to preserve and deliver as much normalcy as we can.
In the coming days, weeks, months, if you need film, batteries, or wish to see the optical prints you’ve had to leave behind, we can deliver. If you need a chemical refill to perform your own magic at home, or if you’ve been circling a new camera on our website and would like a few more pictures, we can deliver!
We can do so much without endangering your comfort, community, and creativity.
Of course, we’re all improvising, so we’ll do our best with the staff in place and the hours we’ve been given (right now: Mon - Sat 10am-4pm) to accommodate every request with a reasonable turnaround time.
Make no mistake, we’re here. I’ll show you: CLOSE YOUR EYES. Now, hear the sound of a little engine behind that black curtain I catch so many of you trying to peak through? That’s us.
That’s National.
